With summer behind us and the 2015/16 recreational halibut season slowly winding down, anglers with an experimental halibut licence can still obtain quota through IQMI's AccessQ online leasing service.
Midnight on October 7th, 2014 marked exactly one year since the IQMI Trawler digital catch reporting service went into full and continuous operation with over 1,000 trips successfully completed.
When it launched nearly ten years ago, quota management services were at the heart of what IQMI did. Quota trading, leasing, and listing services provided the company with its start and laid the groundwork for a broader strategy. Effective as of March 31st, 2015 IQMI will stop providing quota trading, leasing and listing services.
Following several weeks of training and field testing, British Columbia commercial trawl skippers, fleet managers, at-sea observers and dockside monitors are now recording and managing their trip, catch and offload data using the IQMI Trawler digital catch monitoring platform. Users are also using IQMI Trawler to create and cancel trips, hail out and in, and request at-sea observers and dockside monitors.
IQMI has been contracted by Peacemakers to provide recreational anglers and guides with IQMI Catch Monitor Sport - a simple software application that enables the recording and reporting of individual catch and release details using any smart phone, tablet or computer. It is being offered on a pilot basis in the 2014 recreational fishery on the Lower Fraser River.
