Following several weeks of training and field testing, British Columbia commercial trawl skippers, fleet managers, at-sea observers and dockside monitors are now recording and managing their trip, catch and offload data using the IQMI Trawler digital catch monitoring platform. Users are also using IQMI Trawler to create and cancel trips, hail out and in, and request at-sea observers and dockside monitors.
IQMI has been contracted by Peacemakers to provide recreational anglers and guides with IQMI Catch Monitor Sport - a simple software application that enables the recording and reporting of individual catch and release details using any smart phone, tablet or computer. It is being offered on a pilot basis in the 2014 recreational fishery on the Lower Fraser River.
IQMI is once again offering interested recreational stakeholders secure, convenient access to quota for the 2014 Halibut Experimental Recreational Fishery. We continue to work with the commercial halibut sector to create virtual pool of quota and to make it available to recreational stakeholders by fax, phone and over the Internet. The service will be available beginning in mid-April, 2014
First Nations clients use IQMI Catch Monitor platform for real-time monitoring and control of commercial salmon fisheries
Sts'ailes and Scowlitz First Nations carried out several successful commercial beach seine fisheries from September through early November along a two-mile stretch of the lower Fraser River. In each fishery, several crews fished simultaneously at different locations along the river. Each crew was staffed with a trained monitor, who recorded and reported real-time catch and release data using a smart phone connected to the IQMI Catch Monitor platform.
IQMI and the Canadian Groundfish Research and Conservation Society (CGRCS) have signed a multi-year agreement under which the company will equip trawl skippers, at-sea observers and dockside monitors with the means to digitally record and manage trip, catch and offload data. Services are based on IQMI's Trawler digital catch monitoring platform, which skippers can also use to create and cancel trips, hail out and in, and request at-sea observers and dockside monitors.
